If you read it many times it seems as though you're saying you would rather get nothing than getting the money

What about receiving £2, 000,000 for free?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, paying for money is dumb.

Many of those who received such fortunes have lost them and their lives have been cursed. Everything has a price and the heavier the gift the greater the price to the ill prepared receiver.

Imagine that you have won 10 million pounds Sterling. First the Exchequer comes for its cut, up to 90%. Then you get falsely sued by every charlatan shyster solicitor in Great Britain. You are dunned by countless relatives who seem to come out of the wood work, charities (mostly false), persons wanting you to invest in "get rich quick" schemes and "sure things". thieves of all sorts will descend upon you in the form of hackers, confidence men, leeches who will salve you and hang around to say how great you are and take your money for their drugs and crimes, which is what happens to Rock stars and professional athletes. You may buy things you could not possibly use and too many of other things that are appeals to your vanity. Family fights over it will surely occur and dissolution and divorce will follow. Your lawyer or accountant embezzles you. the pressure causes you to lose your health and your sanity. You will be hounded endlessly by the jackals of Fleet Street and they will camp at your door to take photos of your every private function. You may receive threats and you may have to protect yourself and your family from kidnappers. The severely mentally unstable will invade your life and make every waking moment a paranoid misery. You will have no place to hide and no where to run. Like most of the others, you will most likely end up broke, friendless, even in deep debt and possibly homeless. If you are lucky you will end up a recluse surrounded by guards with guns and large dogs with vicious teeth. the very gift you thought would be your salvation and ticket to freedom has ended up making you a slave and a prisoner in your own home and you will die as a curiosity of recent and fleeting history. then you will be forgotten like Eleanor Rigby. As for myself I will reject this curse and live my life as happily as I have by my own volition and left to my own happenings. and I will die loved, but maybe unrespected and with a satisfied mind.
