+358 The only thing that's as annoying as an overzealous Christian who stops at nothing to convert you is an overzealous atheist who stops at nothing to convert you. They're both annoying as hell, amirite?

I don't mind hearing about your beliefs; in fact, I may find it very interesting. But don't fucking insult me for having a different belief system.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not insulting anyone. I'm saying that mean, overzealous Christians and mean, overzealous atheists are the same thing in my book. They're both extreme ends of a spectrum. Though of course not all Christians are crazy and insulting, nor are all atheists crazy and insulting.

Oh, I wasn't directing that at you, but rather at the people your post refers to. I agree with you!

It's probably pretty depressing to be an atheist. Not that it's not a valid viewpoint; it's just depressing sometimes to think that once someone dies, they're gone forever.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You can believe in an afterlife, but not believe in God.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that's true, but i won't pretend to believe to make myself feel better.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They aren't gone forever. They have their friends and loved ones to remember them. As long as there is a memory, they can't be dead. It just seems irrational and illogical to think there is some omnipotent omniscient being who controls everything.

But it actually makes sense for a Christian to convert somebody. Their religion and God calls for it. However, an atheist has no reason to attempt to "convert" a Christian into an atheist. It makes no sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because the Atheists who do try to convert everyone, are the same people who believe the world would be better if religion and the notion of God didn't exist. Therefor, it DOES make sense to them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Eh, okay. I can kinda see that. But it still seems to me like they are way too obsessed with a God they don't believe in...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They're not obsessed with God. They just live by the notion that none exists. Then they see stuff in the news like the Westboro Baptist Church and automatically think; "see that's why we need to erase religion and beliefs in the world!!"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This reminded me of earlier, I made my status on Facebook "Pray for Japan." and an atheist liked it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh I know, my friend and I are both atheist. I really don't care when other people are Christian or Jewish or whatever, but she has to go on about "it's stupid that people would EVER think like that." It gets annoying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You see, I'm a christian and my best friend is an athiest. We have known each other since we were two years old, so I'd never let anything like having a different view come between us. However, she always bashes how stupid it is to belive in God and she's all like "you only think that you believe you God, bla, blah, what's so great about it, blah, you're so gulliblem..." And I'm just sitting here like "alright, I know you don't believe in my faith, but you can seriously just show some respect and not bash my religion. Number one- no matter what religion it is- it's really rude and numbere two- I don't bash your ideas, I don't even care what religion anyone is. Its between you, your beliefs, and what religion you choose. I have nothing to do with it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But one doesn't care because they don't believe in hell

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well holy shit. This got featured on the homepage. My first post. Ever. ...I'm honestly rather stunned.

There are really two kinds of Athiests. There are the bashers, the one most people remember, and the curious ones. Bashers are obvious. They bitch about God being wrong and others are "stupid" to believe in that, but don't acknowledge them. They just want to have that power to know they can say that because their beliefs say it's nothing but a big ghost of an idea. There are good athiets though, like myself, and Wikit can clarify that as well. The "curious" Athiest is just one that decides to step back and say "you know, too many decsions." Not everybody needs God and it should just stay that way. Even I feel great distaste for the bashers on both sides. Being neutral as I am can be a bother because everybody thinks I'm totally against God. But it's not true. My suggestion, don't let those bad people get to you. They do it to get a sense of power in themselves for being the "bad ass" ones.

(Spike(guest)): <3 Spikey~ You and I are truly proof that Christians and atheists can live in harmony~

by Anonymous 13 years ago

See, this is why im agnostic. Debating gods existance will go on forever. We dont have the power or intelligence to prove or disprove the existance of a supreme being. Ive come to terms with this fact as a former christian AND a former atheist. It took me a while but i somehow managed to do so. But i accept any faith, since ive come to understand that ill never know whats true and whats not. I think we all should . End of story :)
