+109 How did the Greeks decide that there were Greek gods? It must have been like guy 1: why is there lightning? Guy 2: oh there must be a giant powerful dude in the sky making it happen. And he has a whole family of Gods. Guy 1: yeah that totally makes sense, amirite?

I never really understood why people generally find greek mythology interesting but completely implausible. "One god controlling the universe? Of course! Multiple gods controlling individual tasks? Ridiculous!" On another note, the first line sounds like the beginning of a joke.

same way all religions were thought up. Civilizations create stories to try to explain what they don't understand. Then, it catches on.
