+1,215 50 Japanese nuclear engineers are staying behind at the Fukushima Power Plant to try and prevent a nuclear meltdown. They are getting the same amount of radiation per hour that a nuclear engineer receives in his/her ENTIRE career. These people are true heroes. amirite?

But to make things a little more clear, nuclear power plants have so many precautions you're likely to get more radiation at home, depending on your type of carpet than at a nuclear power plant. So over a long period of time, it doesn't do anything to you really. But getting it all at once is probably pretty intense.

I feel like I should be crying or offering a prayer or counting my blessings or something, but I don't know what to do, so I'm leaving this comment. I hope it shows my appreciation enough.

Maybe when this is all over.. we will have 50 chemical engineer mutant ninja turtles B-)

These guys are basically dead men walking. I've heard there's more engineers who have volunteered to go in if/when these guys die and take over the job of preventing the nuclear meltdown. These people are truly giving their lives to try to save the lives of some people in their country.

And around the world. If the reactors go, the radiation could spread to other countries pretty rapidly.

I heard the radiation is supposed to hit the west coast tomorrow.

Source please? I'd like to read up more about this. Those poor men, God help them.

Theses are the kinds of people we should look up to, not just celebrities or our favorite tv star but people who are giving their lives to save other people
