-36 Nobody wants government run healthcare, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

/I/ don't, but I'm sure SOMEBODY does.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

but it's directed at the individual and he/she is using exaggeration to get his/her feelings across.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It says "nobody", so I assume it means "nobody". I'm sorry for thinking literally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

not trying to be offensive, but i think the poster is smart enough to realize that somebody wants it and didn't intend for the reader to think literally.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(...): You never know. A lot of people generalize in their posts.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Voting YYA to this post doesn't really make any sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Iggnnooraanntt

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um, isn't Medicare government-run?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Correct. What OP Means is that nobody will want Gov't run health-care, as they are the most incompetent, inefficient, worthless business managers the world has ever seen. Anyone who votes No Way must have never seen a DMV.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Health care works just fine up here in Canada

by Anonymous 13 years ago

See my above post.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I understand that. However, read what I wrote. Nobody WILL want it, once it fails utterly.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

like it failed in Canada, New Zealand, Britain and most of the industrialized world....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yesh. Also, what gives you the right to steal MY money to pay for YOUR medical bills?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually it's not stealing. It's taxes. Just like your taxes help pay for roads, schools, and the military. If you live in a society that provides a whole lot for you, then you're expected to provide a little bit for the society.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Except for a bunch of Americans and every other Industrialized nation

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we're already spending a bunch and we're in debt. :| this'll cost even more.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I didn't realise that the private sector was doing such a good job. If Govt run healthcare is such a bad idea, why is it that so many other developed countries have it, and have better healthcare than the US?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I say at least give it a chance... it might work or it might not work, we won't know until we try.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh yeah? Use your hand as a shield while I shoot a shotgun at your face, if it doesn't work I don't think you'll be able to try again...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That was the worst metaphor I have ever read in my life.......

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Whoever said NW needs to get thier head out of thie asses. Why do we need health care to be in more debt? Americans are getting dumber by the secound.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thier? Thie? Secound? Guess you proved yourself there.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

works fine in New Zealand....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wrong. Besides, if the Conservatives think it's a bad idea, it's definitely worth a shot and is probably better for the country in the long run.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

YAY! I'm excited to work for free then. Sure, once i get out of med school I'll be swimming in debt for the rest of my life but ,hey... doctors aren't really people, right?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Just like lawyers and politicians.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Doctors working for free? That's not how it works, at least not in Australia.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well, it's a significant pay cut and more hours

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't know the details of the American system, before or after this new bill, but in Australia and many other countries in the world with public healthcare doctors get along just fine. Better than fine in many cases.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, if a conservative thinks something, it's IMMEDIATELY wrong?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yes, because the liberals are right 100% of the time.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

@718493 (LittleMexico): I know better than to argue on the internet. It's a waste of time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh33bGAxl58 And with that, I shake your hands and wish you luck in life.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

ha ha touché

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I definitely want it. Private insurance companies clearly aren't working. I don't want it to be the only insurance we can choose, but I'd like the option of government-run healthcare.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Works fine in Canada. Also, a couple of things: a) It's a safety net. When you need health care you get it. You wouldn't go skydiving without a parachute would you? b) So you have to pay for other people too, whatever happened to common human decency? No matter the justification "I don't wanna pay for someone else" is an extremely greedy statement. What you're saying is that you would rather see someone die than pay a little more in taxes and have them live?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah but you see... that makes too much sense. So everyone is going to ignore it and jump to the worst conculsions about government run heathcare, even though it works in the rest of the developed world.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you are poor US citizen the health care in Canada is better than your current health care. If you are middle class or rich US citizen, chances are your health care is better than it would be in Canada. It's not selfish to not want universal Health Care. There is a huge difference between welfare and charity: charity is when you give your money to the poor, welfare is when you give someone else's money to the poor. I don't think universal health care would work in America the way it does in Canada. America is much larger, more diverse, and has a unique political culture. If the government gets the power to control health care there is always the danger that they will do some stupid political thing with it. What if the Tea Party wins congress and bans birth control or tries to force gay people to go through psycho-therapy? I believe the government who governs less governs best.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You're paying for other people anyway. Anytime someone walks into the emergency room because they don't have healthcare, they're sick and they legally can't be turned away from the emergency room. Then they don't pay their bills. Which raises hospital costs and insurance premiums (and copays and what not) so the tax payer ends up paying for it all anyway. It's actually cheaper to have Government Run health insurance because then the private insurers don't have a monopoly they have to compete. And lower their costs.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The health care bill that's to be voted on has a section stating that a person who has sold their house, is required to pay 3.9% tax on that income. That's ludacris.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It certainly doesn't belong in a health-care bill, but I don't think the tax itself is ludicrous.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Works pretty well in Norway, of course people get left out, but we also have private clinics. I think it should be a balance between the two.
