+319 You get kind of annoyed when someone says maths (or math depending where you live), but you know that it's the correct term in certain places, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yep. And even know I know it's different in different places, I don't see why it's called ''math.'' It's short for mathematics, not mathematic. You may say that it's using the first four letters, but you can't abbreviate a plural as a singular word. That's like abbreviating ''advertisements'' to ''ad'' or ''advert.''

That's what I always say to people! *high five*

Even though maths makes WAY more sense, I just say math because I was taught that it's one of those words like "spaghetti".

I meant even *though.

Thanks, but I'm going to continue to say 'math' no matter where I am.

I find it annoying when my friend, who comes from Canada, goes round telling everyone to say math because it's the correct way to say it. If she doesn't like the fact that we say maths, then she could just go back to Canada.

It really doesn't bother me at all?

by Anonymous 13 years ago
