+203 The Internet slang for because is cuz, not cos, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Doesn't cuz = cousin?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nope. Cuz is cousin. Cos is cosine in trigonometry. You're looking for "coz", with or without an apostrophe before it. It really makes no sense for it to be cuz. You're shortening "'cause", so you want something that actually sounds like it. The "u" in cuz sounds completely different. The "o" in coz makes the right sound (think of an Afrikaans "o" sound). Then there's a "z" sound at the end, not an "s" sound.

I think it's cuz because it sounds like the second syllable of because, at least the way I pronounce it.

That's weird. My whole point was that coz sounds like cause, and cuz sounds completely different.

Yeah I understood your point, you did a good job explaining. It's probably just a regional thing. The way people pronounce it around where I live sounds more like "cuz" than "coz"

Fair enough.

It's slang. Who cares.

I prefer cos. It sounds smoother to me.
