+269 It's annoying when somebody has really good grades and they practically rub it in your face that they have better grades than you, amirite?

My little brother's going to be in physics freshman year. He's never gotten a B. He thinks an A- is a bad grade.

I have some friends that are like, "My lowest mark is 90% and it's pretty bad" & it honestly makes me feel like the biggest dumb ass.

Don't compare yourself to them! I'm sure you are way better than them at something. “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” ― Albert Einstein

Or when your mom expects more than you have in you. I'm not stupid, I'm just busy. -_____-

And lazy.

Pretty much XD

I have the opposite problem, kind of. I'm second in my class, so when people get a higher mark than me they feel the need to tell me and show off and what not. And I'm just like "aha. good for you" -.-

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This happens all the time with me; most of the time I just say "Good for you, would you like a prize?" as it's not that big of an accomplishment

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And then they're like "Oh my god, I only got 95%!" and I'm all like "Shut up, I got 50%". Unless they get full marks and come first, they're never happy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They're upset because they feel as if they could've gotten a higher mark than a 95% but for whatever reason didn't. Just like you'd be upset if you're used to getting C's then you find yourself getting a D. Different people have different ideas over what a 'good' or 'bad' grade is based on what they're used to getting. If they feel they did poorly, then they're comparing themselves WITH THEMSELVES not with you. So a 95% might be a wonderful mark to you but to them it's not.

Exactly my thoughts. Also sometimes the when a person is not happy about a grade, such as a 95%, they could be mad at themselves about the things they got wrong. For example, I got a 95% on a math midterm last week and I was disappointed not because of my grade, but because I could have gotten a 100% if I hadn't screwed up on some easy questions. It's not always about the mark

"So what'd you get on your test?" "Oh an 89" "Hhhh... Ouch... I got a 97, and I didn't even study..." *in my head* "DAMN YOU!" *out loud* "oh cool."
