+151 Friends who pretend like they don't understand a subject in school just so they don't have to teach you are actually not that nice of friends, amirite?

why are you so self centered that you think your friends should teach you?

It's not self centered to ask someone who you think is capable of helping you to help you as long as you're not asking them to go out of their way.

Its not being self centered if I'm struggling in their best subject and I ask for help on an assignment and they all of the sudden seem to forget how to do everything we've learned, thats self centered on their part

Unless they actually forgot.

Thats a real reason, But I'm saying if they obviously do know it.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

No. Especially if they always keep asking. You get tired of explaining things when you're the smart one in the group.

It's not your friends' responsibility to teach you.

But a good friend wouldn't care and they'd do it anyway. That's a not so nice friends excuse.

If I know how to explain it and have they time, I'll help my friends understand their work but your friends aren't obligated to teach you. You need to be accountable for learning your own shit, not rely on friends. And it's not a "not so nice" excuse, it's life.

Obviously if they don't have the time you need to quit asking. But if they do, then yeah, they are being not so nice.

I always help my friends if they don't get something but if they aren't really trying to get it, I just tell them to stop wasting my time. I don't like it when people play dumb, especially if we're close.
