Creationism and evolution don't exactly contradict eachother. amirite?
by Anonymous14 years ago
How so?
by Anonymous14 years ago
they kinda do
by Anonymous14 years ago
actually they do.
by Anonymous14 years ago
they do completely
by Anonymous14 years ago
..except they don't.

Hahaha are you serious? Alright let's outline the two:
Creationism:
God makes man out of thin air (and woman out of man). A few thousand years ago, I'll note.
Evolution:
Man (human race) evolves from primates over a course of millions of years.
How are those even remotely similar?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Yes, yes they do. They actually DIRECTLY contradict each other.
by Anonymous14 years ago
They coincide quite nicely the way I see it.

No they don't. Creationism is the belief that the universe, life, earth etc. was creating by a supernatural being.
Evolution is the theory that genes are inherited from previous generations and through environmental pressure and natural selection, certain genes are selected for or weeded out, leading to divergence of traits and leading to new species. It does not make claims to explain where life originated from. It simply describes the movement of genes.
Also to clarify, a theory is an idea supported by data collected through obsevation and scientific experimentation. It is not a whim, it is supported by evidence. It may not be complete, but that's what the ongoing scientific pursuit of knowledge is for.

Yeah both take the same amount of faith to believe so while it's a stretch to say they dont exactly contradict each other it's not entirely untrue. The contradictions come up when you include the big bang theory with envolutionary theory. That completely contradicts creationism but it's not part of the evolutionary theory
by Anonymous14 years ago
Actually I believe that God created the universe, I also believe in evolution, i just believe that He facilitated the process.
by Anonymous12 years ago
they don't contradict. creatism basically says God created the world, some people take it further and say he did it in a couple days, or a couple thousands years, but basically, it's just saying that God created the world. i believe that God created the world, but he very well could have done it through evolution.
personally, i think fighting over which one's true is like fighting over whether goldilocks and the three bears had wooden beds had porridge or waffles for breakfast. in the end, fighting over how long it took for God to make the world doesn't do anything for the story. The point is, he made it.
*DISCLAIMER: I talking to creatists here.
by Anonymous14 years ago
They do. Evolution is compatible with reality and creationism isn't.
by Anonymous12 years ago
So you're saying that because I believe that God created the universe, I am not thinking in terms of reality?
