+135 Bosses and restaurant owners should pay waiters for their service; after all, service is their job. Customers should pay for their food, amirite?

bosses do pay waiters o.O

by Anonymous 14 years ago

it's saying that people shouldn't have to tip for them doing what is their job, and what they're paid to do anyway.

by Anonymous 14 years ago

it not like they are asking for much. You are probably American because in Europe tipping is generally optional

Nope, I'm British, and a waitress! (well of sorts, I work in a cafe) I was just trying to explain what the post meant not my actual view. I love getting tipped :D Although I do kind of agree with this. Why don't the chefs get tipped, or people who work in supermarkets or other generally low-paying jobs that cater to the public? What makes wait staff more deserving?

because the chefs get compliments ;D

I hated it when there was a custumer with a scottish accent, you just KNOW you weren't going to get tipped.

Bosses pay waiters about $2.83 an hour by employers in most states and taxed on the assumption that they make quadruple that once tips are figured in. If you went to a restaurant where waiters were paid a salary fo r$12.00 an hour, your food would be 4 times as expensive in order to make ends meet. If you don't want to tip a waiter properly, eat at home or go to McDonalds.

The $2.83 per hour is standard in America. I should have specified.

do you not have a minimum wage?

by Anonymous 14 years ago

Actually, minimum wage in the U.S. is much more than $2.83 per hour.
