Well, if it is a general name like Katie, I would picture the character to what the description is. But if it is something like Palmer, I would begin picturing the character as the description, but then start thinking of one of my friends :)

It makes it awkward when one of the main characters has the same name as your mentally challenged family member. Especially when her name is NOT common. I don't know if I picture the character looking like her, but I can't help thinking about her when I read the book.

unlessthe character is a girl named sam and your friend is a guy... that would be kind of weird but pretty entertaining lol
