I know it seems horribly anthropocentric, but I'm gonna state the obvious: Human beings are significant to human beings.

That's one way to look about it. But, speaking in terms of the history of the human race, or memories and knowledge of it, many people have influences that change our world, even if in context of the entire universe it doesn't seem very big. But what does the rest of the universe have to do with our lives, ya know?
