All human beings are insignificant in the grand scheme of things, amirite?
by Anonymous14 years ago
I know it seems horribly anthropocentric, but I'm gonna state the obvious: Human beings are significant to human beings.

That's one way to look about it. But, speaking in terms of the history of the human race, or memories and knowledge of it, many people have influences that change our world, even if in context of the entire universe it doesn't seem very big. But what does the rest of the universe have to do with our lives, ya know?

In the grand scheme (at least of humanity), Hitler must not be significant.

Nothing is significant in the grand scheme of things, but everything is significant in the minute scheme of things.

Isn't the whole point of life to affect others in a way that would make you significant?

That Fight Club quote, "Look up at the stars and you're gone" goes great with this.
