no. You need a good knowledge of the subject.. Your intellectual abilities don't help much if you don't have any idea about the subject you're being tested.

Which is exactly why I said only one of them was needed. I was referring to exams requiring just subject knowledge, not intelligence, which IMO is wrong. To be fair I wasn't really very clear with that.
