I can't say for sure, but I know when I helped clean up a barn that burned I smelled very strongly of smoker. Nothing like the wonderful campfire smell.

You've got paint on houses usually. Paint smells way different than forest wood.

I thought of this post as I watched my house brun down just after I read it, but couldn't find it to comment on... As sadistic as this sounds, it didn't even smell that bad, it was more just scary and sad..
