+318 Math students: You get excited and relieved when doing a problem and you see a number that's a perfect square, like 64 or 81, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's easier to work with, because you might have to square root something. Also a lot of numbers go into numbers like that. It's just easier to work with.

Do you mean take the square root of it? Because it wouldn't be any easier to square a number like 64 or 81. And your second point isn't really true. Take a look at 49, the only numbers that go into it are 3, 13 and 7. Same with 81 (except 3, 27 and 9).

3 and 13 do not go into 49... just saying. >.>

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Aww, dammit, I'm a dumbass. I was thinking 39 for some reason, I need some sleep

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha. I'd suggest sleeping before you do your summer math homework then.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha, no summer math homework for me! Although I am taking 2 math classes this year so I guess that makes up for it...

I fixed it. The first part is more then the second part. If you are taking math over Algebra or Geometry then you need to square root numbers a lot. Like Pythagorean theorem, and the quadratic formula.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think you're mistaken. Squaring a perfect square isn't helpful, the only times perfect squares are helpful is when you take the SQUARE ROOT of them.

I said square root

Either I need new glasses or you magically edited a comment more than 5 minutes after you posted....Hmm....

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I said I fixed it, what did you think I was talking about?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought you just didn't fix it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

but, alls good now.

When u get a sqare number u feel better about the answer, rather than a random number that doesnt sound right
