+310 Drugs are dumb. The whole point of being a human being is to move forward and make progress, but drugs are like an evolutionary step backwards, amirite?

Inb4: I smoke pot and have a 4.0

by Anonymous 12 years ago

y

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's awesome for you, but do your parents know? How would they feel if they did? And not to sound pessimistic or anything, but how long until something happens related to your being intoxicated gets you killed? Like you drive off the road, or you OD? I'm just saying that in general, people's lives are made worse by drugs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Do people not know what "INB4" means anymore?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There are 0, I repeat 0 deaths recorded where weed was the cause.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(Prof. Ganja): HAHAHAHAHA... repeat it again and maybe it will become even less wrong

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You can't OD from weed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Agreed. I've read you'd have to smoke your body weight in.one sitting to die, and you're definitely falling asleep or gettin distracted before that happens. Haha.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Here are some things, first learn what inb4 means. Second, you can't OD from weed, the most that will ever happen is that you smoke some and puke (and even that is very rare). Alcohol can kill you quickly, and with prolonged use will kill you slowly. Weed does not do this. People who get addicted to weed get addicted to the habit, not the drug. People addicted to tobacco and alcohol (LEGAL drugs) get addicted to the drug that can and will kill you with overuse. Weed has never been the cause of death. There have been incidents where someone has been driving under the influence and gotten killed (or killed someone), but that's as stupid as driving drunk. Edit: Also, the deaths caused by prescription drugs happen because of improper use of these drugs. People use them to get high, then they OD. People are abusing prescription drugs that were not prescribed to them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

you can'y OD on pot, dumbfuck!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Generally used on internet forums, inb4 refers to a user posting a reply to a message/topic "before" another user posts an obvious response. When used appropriately, inb4 is followed by a word or short phrase that the user knows will eventually appear in the topic conversation.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

y I said "InB4" because there is always someone who says this when somebody says that drugs are bad. I don't smoke, drink, or do any of that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I realize that...and I was replying as if you hadn't said InB4 for the sake of those who read these comments

what kinda drugs we talking?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why is using drugs like an evolutionary step backwards?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If anything, it's a step forward, because a drug can expand a human's mind and create new ideas. Some of our greatest musicians have used drugs and have composed sounds, we may not have heard, without drugs. Not sure how OP wants evolution to fit in. I think she just wanted to use big words.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm guessing evolution as in development, not the genetic mutations "Evolution." Also the music is obviously a matter of opinion but I'd be doing alright without We All Live on a Yellow Submarine...........

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i hate you already for bringing up the one Beatles song everyone points out as drug inspired. One out of 200 songs. Congrats. Plus he said sounds not lyrics. Goes to show how much you know.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

is there a point to what you said besides hating me? I like the Beatles, but they didn't need to be on drugs to be good, nor does anyone. We've probably lost more great artists than we've gained thanks to drugs.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd say it's not really a step forward, or a step back (at least, definitely not a big one in either direction). People can still be creative and come up with new ideas without drugs. And then, not everyone who does drugs does it to come up with ideas.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually the word 'drug' is also used to refer medicine. #justsayin

by Anonymous 12 years ago

not just humans all animals

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think it depends what sort of drug you're talking about. Remember that the cure for some horrible disease and a recreational drug are both drugs. And there is such a thing as medical marijuana. I don't think helping someone ease the pain of their disease is an evolutionary step backwards.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, over the counter drugs, antibiotics, and vaccines are technically an evolutionary step backward. Instead of only the people who have the ability to resist them surviving, now everyone can survive and reproduce, causing more of intolerance to these diseases. Also the bacteria are evolving to be immune to antibiotics, which make them even more devastating. That's actually what I thought the post was talking about before I read the comments.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I feel like as long as it doesn't dramatically affect your day to day life smoking weed is alright.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wait, is that the whole point if being human?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

OP needs to explain how drugs are an evolutionary step backward. It's not like they cause us to fuck Homo Erectuses.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure the whole point of being human is much more complicated than that. "Why are we here? " <== Basically, that's what sets us aside from other animals, our ability to think of and answer that question. From our beginnings that prompted humans to search for meaning, and "God". Many groups of people used, and still use, various psychedelic plants in an effort to enter a higher plane of spiritual awareness. Dr. Timothy Leary (Harvard psychologist) was a very influential proponent of this idea. By using mind altering drugs, he believed we are able to reach states of consciousness and understanding that otherwise we cannot attain. By "expanding our minds" we are able to truly benefit from not having self or society imposed limits of thought. It's therapeutic and spiritual, and a (regardless of your feelings on drugs) very beautiful idea. Aldous Huxley (author of Brave New World) held similar beliefs and chronicled his own experiences in a book called "Doors of Perception." H...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He also believed that by using psychedelics we could benefit and gain greater understanding of our world and ourselves. To me, the point of being human is to continually learn and discover. Just something to consider.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I disagree with that point of being a human. We were not "put" here for a cause, we're just so damn curious we make more and more and try to make life easier and better and better and better because we're never satisfied. Not every human is an inventor though, and most just live and enjoy the things that exist now. That's what all normal animals do.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Agree with that one. And alcohol actually slaugters your brain, drugs remove all the strings from it. So drugs are just a way to unleash our imagination. I don't see whats wrong with that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

there is no point to life, we're just killing time before we die, might as well have fun
