I think when you wake up with a "crick" in your neck, from having slept at an uncomfortable angle. That's the only way I've heard that word anyway, although I do not associate it with hicks.

Yeah, that's not the type of crick I meant. Farmers and country folks call creeks, as in streams, "cricks"

I've always hated it when people call a creek a crick (and it's just as bad when hickish people call a roof a ruff).
