not every year but it has happened that every year i ahve got a giftcard either on my birthday or christmass or the 2 weeks in between

It's not necessarily a bad thing, though. It's better than if my uncles who don't know me at all got me a shitload of Hello Kitty stuff. They'll just be like, "Oh, she likes to read? Here's a Barnes and Nobles gift card."
