air flows naturally from high to low pressure areas. and temperature does have something to do with it. when the higher part of the atmosphere is cooler than normal, the air molecules will slow down and go towards the ground. opposite for low pressure. and when the pressure is uneven, nature will try to make it even. [kind of like when you breathe. you can do it naturally because the pressure inside your body is different than outside.]

Air pressure or temperature difference (though it's hard to tell which one's cause and which is effect).

when the wind dies down, that's where the wind ends, when it starts up stronger thats where it starts.

Actually I re-neg my earlier comment. Wind doesn't 'start' or 'end' because it's our atmosphere. If a breeze blowing in your face quickly dies down it's not like you're suddenly in a vacuum. There's still air, it's just not moving anymore.

Wind goes from high pressure to low pressure

It's from the trees. Look they bend over and wiggle around when it's windy. It must be from the trees. Oh how I love Arthur.
