+343 There needs to be some standard etiquette for responding to 'Happy Birthday' posts on Facebook, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I always thought the whole make a post saying, "Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!" thing was standard?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I kinda don't like those :/ especially when the person says it at like 2pm so you feel like a dick for telling them happy birthday when they already thanked everyone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So then, the rule should be not to post the message until after your birthday is over!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hm... I generally post it (as RobotDevil said) the day after my birthday.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just comment on it some variation of "thank you"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's funny cause nobody wants to talk to me before or after my birthday. I should change my birthday to a random day so I can filter out those who are my real friends.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

one of my friends would set his fb birthday to every few months as a study of how gullible people are.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

People nowadays just 'like' the birthday comment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just like the wall post if it's a standard "happy birthday" but if it's some kind of message I'll leave a comment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I endeavored to comment on every birthday message I got this year. ... never again.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I did the same. Big. Mistake. After about 4 PM I started wishing I had less family, friends, and random Facebook acquaintances.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol plus I was trying to be diverse in my comments, but even then they got repetitive. sure does make you feel good though. haha

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Same here. By the end I was just switching up which smiley I applied to the comment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I guess I'm a loser or something because I do that and it's not overwhelming. . . wary

by Anonymous 12 years ago

awww it's okay. I'll wish you happy birthday when it's your birthday.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Aug 16th mark your calender! :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

HOLLA!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

People usually "like" all the posts and then make a "Thanks for all the birthday wishes" post at the end of the day

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hah. Well. When that happens, I just say thanks and then... OKAY FINE. NO ONE ACTUALLY WISHES ME A HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OKAY? /forever alone.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I comment "Thank you!" on every post. Sure it's generic and impersonal, but I feel like it's polite to at least acknowledge the fact that they told you happy birthday.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I do that also. I find smply 'liking' the post more impersonal.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

if someone just says "happy birthday" i just type back "thanks dude!" i make my responses to them as personal as they made their message to me, but i always respond to each of them cause i think it's really lame to just make a single post thanking everyone at the same time when they took the time to post on my wall.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If its like, some random facebook acquaintance I only sort of know, I'll just like the post. If its a friend or family member who put effort into their post, I'll respond to it, telling them thanks and whatnot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If its a personal message I usually write back but if its the generic "happy birthday I do nothing. Like a fearless bastard.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't allow people to post on my Facebook. So I don't have to worry about people posting "happy birthday" to it. LOL
