-147 Church must be pretty awkward for Christians today: "Well uh... we're all kind of suppose to be dead right now so.. didn't exactly have much of a service planned... SILENT PRAYER TIME ANYONE?" amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most Christians didn't think the world was going to end yesterday. The guy is a crackpot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That guy represents Christians as much as bin Laden represents Muslims.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

umm you must not know anything about christianity...shows the validity of your statement.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know a single Christian who believed what that guy said. Any real Christian knows a human will never be able to predict the end of the world.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Shame a 'human' has already predicted the end of the world. The sun will die in about 6 billion years and destroy everything.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

By "the end of the world" he meant the rapture, which if it does happen, won't be able to be predicted by anyone. Says in the bible that even the Son doesn't know when it will happen

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not hating, and kinda off topic but since it came up, can you please explain how the Son didn't know? Because isn't the Son Jesus? Who's also supposed to be God? And the Holy Ghost? (...I think he's supposed to be the Holy Ghost but hell if I'm sure.)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's a trinity. They're definitely not three gods, but there is some separation between them. I know it's not that clear, but don't lose sleep about it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I believe that Jesus is technically an avatar of God.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've never really understood it, one of the reasons I've stopped going to church. But my understanding is basically summed up in the anonymous's reply. There's some separation between the three because the Father always stays in heaven, The Son came to earth in the form of man ultimately to destroy death, and the Holy Ghost is on earth in His place, separating good from evil

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So like... as if God has multiple personality disorder? (Don't take that the wrong way, just if the Son didn't know when the Rapture was supposed to happen...) Although the MPD would be by choice, then...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's called an avatar (they exist in many religions). Jesus was a physical representation of God on earth in human form (he wasn't the entirety of God but rather a part of Him in a human representation).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Avatar? You mean like Avatar Aang?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Uhmm... I mean like how in Hindu Vishnu is a God but has several avatars, like Krishna. They're just embodiments of Vishnu, but not actually Vishnu.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I was being sarcastic.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I answered because I don't know what Avatar Aang is...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

:O

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Like the others have said, only a very small minority of Christians believed that the world was going to end on May 21st. I know you were trying to be funny, but next time aim for a less sensitive subject. :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's the thing about amirite. People relentlessly assault religion on this site, and then tell you to calm down because it was a joke. People are always talking about Bin Laden and stuff, and it annoys me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't understand why people keeping making ignorant statements such as yours. The guy who made this announcement in no way represents ALL Christians! He's obviously not a Christian himself and anyone who believed him is not a true Christian either. If you're going to poke at a touchy topic at least make it funny and accurate. Mark 13:32 "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father." From the mouth of Jesus himself, enough said.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, only about 1% of Christians believed the world would end May 21st 2011. So no...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

less than one percent, really

by Anonymous 12 years ago

@1255284 (Anonymous): Something like 0.003% (unless Christians really ARE crazy, and that's still a lot of people).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He's really not and avatar of god. you could say Jesus's body is an avatar of Jesus, but Jesus isn't an avatar himself. Its a concept that doesn't really make all that much sense regardless of the crappy metaphor someone uses to explain it. Its one creator. He fulfills three roles. This isn't a faith issue, but I do think that, if anything, this strangeness can strengthen ones faith. I say that because it should make sense that such an infinite god would have aspects of which that we don't have a firm grasp. Also, when I come across this I think that if a man wrote that book, he wouldn't have made up a concept that doesn't make sense when instead he could've just made it one god. Thats just a thought, by no means is it a proof of gods existence. The reason there is a trinity is because there is perfection in community. Nobody asked about that, so I won't go into any further detail as to why it is how it is. Once again, its not a faith issue. Don't lose any sleep over it; I've alrea...

This is the logic behind it (if you want to call it logical): atonement = 5 completeness = 10 heaven = 17 (atonement x completeness x heaven)^2 = 722500 = number of days after Jesus' death suposedly happened (April 1, AD 33) before the world ends WTF
