+377 You feel bad for people with diseases such as anorexia and depression until they brag about it and try to make people feel sorry for them on purpose... amirite?

I kinda still feel bad for them, but for different reasons

But honestly, that''s kind of part of the disease. They don't try to get attention and compliments like a lot of desperate teenage girls. They legitimately don't feel confident in their appearance, so they brag about it for attention. It's psychological, not desperation.

I struggled with annoreia and I deffinatley didn't wanna any attention from it. So now anytime someone straight off the bat tells me "oh yeah I'm bipolar, depressed, blah blah blah" I don't belive them. It's not something you share with people. I had depression as a teenager apparently but they said I grew out of it because of meds and counciling, and NO ONE, not my best friend from sense when I was 7, not anyone in my family besides my mom, NO ONE knew about it. People who actually have problems try to hide them. People who want attention make up problems.

I also suffered from anorexia, and I wouldn't go bragging about it, but when I eventually opened up to someone I trusted about it, and said that I did not believe I was attractive or skinny, I wasn't saying it for attention, I legitimately didn't believe it. Now I'm willing to talk about it with other people. But yeah, when people come right out and say it upon meeting them, it's bull. I get that.

Depression should not be called a disease, it's an emotion.

It's a mental disorder. From what I understand, it's something wrong with the chemicals in your brain.
