It should be illegal to have sex until you take a test that shows you will be sufficient parents, amirite?

Disagree that sex should be considered just a means for reproduction, rather than a celebration of couplehood or a means for pleasure.

Yeah, but if you fuck up at sex (no puns intended) you're not just ruining your life (by possibly catching stds), but ruining your unborn kids... nothing good will happen if you're 14 and you're pregnant. You'll either abort, give it away (like we need more of that in our society) or you won't be good at raising it. I mean do you know how many kids are in foster homes or in adopted? Don't you think it's kinda fucked up that their parents are just out there having more sex and putting more kids out in the street?

Really though, if you think about how much abortion happens and how much kids have kids without having any hopes of being able to raise one or adults who're just going to give kids away, as soon as they're born and assuming that we're in a world where people obeyed the law, I think this is a pretty good idea. I do realize people wouldn't follow this, because it's kinda ridiculous, but I don't see where the harm in this idea is.

I do agree with ya there, but I reckon if any hypothetical situation would be ideal, it would be the one where people are kept sterile unless they pass the test, rather than be expected to be abstinent. But, yeah, although it's impossible, if it were possible, some sort of test should be put in place - you have to pass a 100% driving test to be allowed a learner's licence, yet any redneck with a reproductive system gets to raise a kid.

well my main thing is that I went on a mission trip to a childrens home and some of those kids have gone through so much because of their parents. There are so many sad stories and if there was some way for them to learn to be better parents it might not be as bad. By "suFficient" I meant they aren't going to scar their kids for life by locking them in a closet for a week or something.

i get that, and its awful what happens to kids, i agree with you. but people have been having sex since the dawn of time, and nothing is gonna keep it from happening. mostly, i think, we should focus on ways to keep people who do not want kids from having them.

I propose that instead of testing to show youwill be sufficient parents, creating parenting classes (not the birthing and babies classes already offered). These parenting classes should be required (and provided free of charge) to all parents before their child reaches a certain age.

There are tons of classes for soon-to-be parents telling them how to handle babies. I was suggesting classes for how to handle your kids once they start becoming a little more indestructible (and rebellious).
