+179 Okay, so how about this? FIRST, we make sure ever single orphan or unwanted child in the entire world is adopted into a happy home, AND THEN people can talk about limiting abortion or making it illegal, and maybe we can possibly take them seriously, amirite?

Clearly if I posted this, I don't see abortion as being wrong, so please no murder or morality arguments. You won't say anything I haven't heard, considered, and rejected before. :)

I have two siblings who were adopted from a third world country and were not getting nearly the amount of care that a child needs. It pisses me off so much when people say that people shouldn't have abortions because there are so many people dying to adopt. There are even more kids dying to BE adopted! Also, where were all these "pro-lifers" when my little brother and sister were sitting in an orphanage, hungry? There are people actually spending money so that this thing that can't even feel is okay, when there are kids like my siblings who dying painfully due to starvation, disease, dehydration, etc.

Just to throw in my own two cents: As a woman I'd feel violated if I had to carry out an unwanted pregnancy to term because my government said to. Why should the "well being" of my unborn child be put before MY well being. I don't see how the rights of the unborn can override the rights of the living. What about the emotional damage it might cause me, not to mention that being pregnant isn't always easy. For some women it can be physically difficult as well (ex, severe prolonged morning sickness). I don't think abortion should be used as a contraceptive. But if a woman uses all the right protection, and takes all the appropriate precautions and STILL becomes pregnant, there should be a safe and healthy way for her to terminate the pregnancy in it's early stages.
