+669 It's funny to hear someone talk normally and then all of a sudden throw in a huge word. EX: "Yo, dude. I was walking down the street with my bro and suddenly this hot girl walks by and I was like, 'Damn, that ass is quite prepossessing.'", amirite?

"Yo," "dude," and "bro" constitutes speaking normally?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In society today it does.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's just sad...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If that's how the person normally talks then yes.

There is a difference between a social norm and a personal norm.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but if you're talking how you normally talk, you're talking normally.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

As a personal norm, not a social norm.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The post doesn't say social norm.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No. But it is assumed. Anyway, this conversation is quite pointless.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually, I did not mean it as a social norm. I just used that way of speech for this post because the vocab at the end seemed even more out of place in the rest of the sentence.

I was having a fairly normal conversation and used the word animosity once. There were only about 3 people in the group that didn't go, "WHOA, big word there." :/

I'm not ashamed, I googled prepossessing for a definition.
