+180 You didn't know that there was a strategy to playing Minesweep rather than randomly clicking and hoping for the best, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I did..But that takes too much thinking so I just go with the random and see my luck :)

There's a strategy?

The numbers aren't for decoration.

Oh

They tell you how many mines are in the 8 surrounding squares (or just the surrounding squares if it's on the side or in the corner).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How the fuck did you guys play before?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not very well apparently.

I didn't know until my uncle told me... when I was like 10. My mind was blown.

I feel stupid now. On the Windows minesweeper, the grid stayed the same if you hit "new game", so I made a graph on word, then put dots in squares where there were mines. It took a while.

Im on the verge of discovering a formula

I tried to make up my own strategy using the numbers, so I wasn't really doing it randomly. It worked sometimes, and I would get far, but others, I didn't, lol.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's actually really easy if you're patient...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well I'm not so it's hard as fuck

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just click randomly for the first time. Then I memorize where the mines were. Next, I restart the game and avoid the mines. It's pretty easy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol i feel like such a nerd for playing this game so much and actually using logical thinking to win.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I totally didn't understand it at first, but now I can do Intermediate in 72 seconds. There should definitely be a rule that there can't be mines on the corners though. :P

Once you figure it out it's really easy.
