+224 it seems like being judgmental is the only sin on the radar. Identify anything else as sin and you are being judgmental, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Everyone who voted on this post is very judgmental...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'd agree if you hadn't used the word "sin." Sounds like an overzealous Catholic.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It makes me angry. I mean...identifying a sin isn't judging. But everyone seems to think it is.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How isn't it judging?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because identifying it as a sin isn't judging. You would be judging if you were to say "You're going to hell, blah blah" Because YOU don't know that. Only God knows for sure if you're going to hell or not, and that is not your place. But just saying to someone "Lying is a sin, or adultery is a sin" etc, is not judging because it's common knowledge to Christians.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Isn't declaring an act to be anything a form of judgment?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not really. It's like saying "water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen." It's common knowledge and the truth.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How can things being a sin be considered fact if everyone has a different definition of sin?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because I'm talking about the Bible. The sins are defined in the bible. I'm not talking about other religions. Hence my Christian comment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not everyone is a Christian. And even people who are Christian have different definitions of sin? How do you know which one is right? You can't say you know you're right because of what the Bible say because the Christians who have a different definition of sin will say that the Bible says their right and you end up going around in circles.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just assumed that that was what OP was talking about, considering his bio and other posts. So I just went the route of Christianity.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It says clearly in the bible to bring your peer's habitual sins up to them (in private first time though.)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes but the bible also clearly forbids consumption of shellfish.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yeah, cause theyre non kosher. Jewish law forbids it. I can eat it since im not a Jew

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Okay do you wear clothing with blended fabrics and get hair cuts? Those are also prohibited according to the bible.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The Bible consists of the old AND new testaments. If you want to suggest anything about the Bible, you should read it first or do some research and see that Jesus's resurrection cancels out much of the legalism of the old testament since it is no longer necessary.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So you're saying those laws were canceled out because of Jesus' resurrection? If you're using that argument then the whole Old Testament has to be thrown out, and that does include books like genesis and Noah's ark, as well as the Ten Commandments. And if you say only those laws were thrown out, the ones that are now obviously ridiculous in modern times, then you're cherrypicking.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

the bible also says you cant eat foods praising false gods i.e. Chinese food

by Anonymous 12 years ago

are we arguing or just pointing out funny things in the Bible?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm trying to prove the point if you use the bible as a source of identifying truths or a type of moral guideline, it's completely invalidated because you're just cherry picking and avoiding the mounds of bullshit in it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

mounds of bullshit? Explain further. I want to hear this

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well there's the stuff in my last comment to anon, and the way it's read and taught in general. People simply skate over things they don't necessarily like personally and use it as a form of bigotry and hate to fuel their own personal, selfish motives. Such as gay marriage for instance

by Anonymous 12 years ago

1/2 of the bible tells stories of acceptance and love.(personal and selfish?) Yes , the bible says that same sex intercourse is wrong and marriage should be holy and between one man and one woman yet legal marriages are done simply by signing a document. Many marriages have absolutely nothing to do with God. I also believe that a openly gay man could repent and God could show him a woman that he loves. There are people I know of that had strong homosexual thoughts and are now married and happy

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow you saw the word bible and formed a comment based on that I guess. I said I have a problem with people's interpretations, not the fairy tales themselves.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well then interpret it for yourself

by Anonymous 12 years ago

some people interpretations of the bible are extremely wrong

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes but who's to say what interpretation is right and what isn't?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

peoples interpretations of the Bible are not the Bible. whoever is right does not matter in the least

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes but if you take everything at face value you'll just be an idiot. Take one of the first lines of Genesis: "and the Earth was barren". The correct translation from Hebrew should have been "and the Earth became barren" leading to a mistranslation which leads to a misinterpretation of what the line should say. And you're saying if someone interprets the Bible to mean they should kill, that's fine?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Did I ever say it was fine? No, I was just pointing out what some people do

by Anonymous 12 years ago

People will always take advantage of the Bible. The Taliban takes advantage of the Koran to justify what they do

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And I completely agree with anon
