+100 You don't understand people who love poetry but hate on rap. True, good rap is nothing more than a poem put to a beat, amirite?

People who hate on rap are usually ignorant. All they've ever heard from rap is what's played on the radio (Waka Floka, Wiz) occasionally mixed with some Eminem and Kanye. Either that, or they have some subconscious racist thoughts about it because it used mainly by young black men as a platform to express their thoughts and ideas. Plus, some of the things they share ex. political views, life stories, are found disturbing by a lot of people- mostly white, older and Christian people, to be stereotypical.

If you have to ask, then you're retarded.

I just don't understand what you're saying. If you don't want to explain then don't write unnecessary comments.

I like rap, but the people who hate on it, and love poetry is probably because rap is usually filled with swear words and stuff. It's not as calming. But it's still good.

Rap is spoken, poetry is usually read silently...unless you go to a poetry reading.

Poetry readings are just acapella rap battles

I love poetry but I'm not a fan of rap. I'd rather a poem be about something beautiful rather than having bitches and doing drugs. I'm not saying that's all rap is but the vast majority is that. Kudos to the rappers who actually do put essence into their songs.
