+348 Why do people call it the fourth of July moreso than independence day? It would be pretty weird if we did that to other holidays like "hey man what are you doing for the 25th of December?" "...you mean...Christmas...?" amirite?

"Independance day" sounds boring and not worth celebrating.

What are you going to do on the first day of January? Oh, you're busy then? How about the last day of October?

i feel like "the fourth of july" has a better ring to it than the date of any other holiday, and i think it was also in the words for ms. mary mack

Well, what about Cinco de Mayo?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I prefer Cinco de Drinko

maybe because its faster/easier to say?

'The Fourth of July' and 'Independence Day' have the same number of syllables. And saying it out loud, Independence Day actually feels easier to say.

This is the only post I've ever seen with such weird grammar, spelling, word positioning, etc, that actually stayed positive because of the actual idea of the post. #futer

I think it's because people associate that day with beer and fireworks. And the majority of those people don't know what "Independence Day" actually means, or are too dumb to think about it.

I think that's more because almost every country has an independence day, so it makes more sense to call them "fourth of July", "Cinco de Mayo", etc
