Babies are born nocturnal, it's only society that forces them to change their sleeping pattern, amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Fuck, just make a Babies group already.

Shot group?
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm telling you that I don't understand groups
by Anonymous12 years ago
What don't you understand?
by Anonymous12 years ago
how they work...

Well I haven't really used the feature that much but groups are pretty much your replacement for categories. You can make groups for some sort of topic. Let's say "Babies". If you create it you are the owner and can manage the group and it's settings. You can make it so anyone can join or so only people you approve can join. You can then decide if anyone can add posts to the group or if only members of the group can add posts. You basically just use a group as a collection of posts of a certain topic. There's probably a more in depth explanation in the help section.

oh ok
maybe I will make a group about babies
and just for the record tonight I decided to make a slew of posts and babies were the first thing I thought of, I'm not like obsessed with them or anything

Right, right. There's nothing more trustworthy than slowly shifting eyes.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm trustworthy :(
by Anonymous12 years ago
Sure you are.

Babies are born with seven fingers on each hand, society forces them to lose those three extra fingers before they are accepted into the adult world.
by Anonymous12 years ago
carter that was awful
by Anonymous12 years ago
shut up I knew that without you telling me :'(
by Anonymous12 years ago
you should listen to yourself more often
by Anonymous12 years ago
I have a reputation as a lousy commenter I have to preserve, boi.
by Anonymous12 years ago
You're doing a lousy job at it.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I feel like I should stop making these self-pitying comments at every opportunity.
by Anonymous12 years ago
You seem to know what's best for yourself. If only you listened to yourself as well...
by Anonymous12 years ago
What if I had made a comment about the pressures I felt when I was awake at night as a baby? Would that have been better?
by Anonymous12 years ago
probably
by Anonymous12 years ago
3 extra fingers? how about 4...

MINDFUCK

I thought that being in the dark set off a reaction where your hypothalamus (I think that's the gland) produced a hormone that made you fall asleep. I remember reading or learning something about the brightness in the room having an effect. We're naturally sleepy in the dark. Did society force owls to be nocturnal instead of diurnal?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Our brain produces melatonin when we are surrounded by darkness because it has the same effect as nighttime. It is just a joke.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Oh...sorry, I tend to get too scientific.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Ha it's fine I made this post at like 3 in the morning. I totally know where you are coming from. This post was mostly commenting on how babies stay awake all night crying but then gradually manage to slip into a regular sleeping pattern.
by Anonymous12 years ago
While I agree that our sleeping patterns are strongly influenced by society, I'm not sure if human beings even have a natural sleeping pattern.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I read somewhere that there was an experiment where they put people in a room with no windows and no clocks, so they couldn't tell the time. Those people naturally developed a 25 hour day. That's not a sleeping pattern, per se. More of a biorhythm.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That's interesting, but there are so many different variables with it - the main oen I can think of being that if they were living together, and one started waking and sleeping a certain way, eventually they would all fall into the same rhythm. I reckon if you had one 'mole' in there, who started sleeping 2, awake for 4 hours, sleeping 2 hours, awake for 4, etc., the rest would follow.
