+203 If there's one thing that humans can do that computers will never be able to do, it is being creative. A computer will never be able to write a good book, or compose a great piece of music all by itself, amirite?

I have to admit, that wasnt too bad, but its mostly based on patterns. Although a lot of music is shaped in patterns, often the best music is shapeless. This music was probably made through some supercomputer that calculated thousands if not millions of ways the music couldve been before selecting the best one through some complicated algorithm. If people did start making lots of music made by supercomputers, it would probably be rather bland and all of them would be similar. The brain works in a totally different way than computers, and its why the brain can come up with a new piece of music so much more efficiently than a computer ever will, and it will always win out at the emmy's

In 12 years a computer will be more powerful than a human brain. By 2040 we'll be able to make them with more power than all humans on Earth combined. Who knows what will happen by 2100? I wouldn't say "never".

The Matrix?

Well the thing is the way computers work is in a very logical way, where everything is in patterns. A lot of music is in patterns, but then a lot of it isnt. Then of course novels are almost patternless, except for the fact that most of the book is in sentences, but that hardly a helps. Unless the way computers work is changed, for example quantum computers, then i doubt a computer could write a really enjoyable piece of music that isnt just patterns, or a really good book. Just look at how computers play chess: they look at every POSSIBLE move, which is in the thousands, and pick the single best one, not following any certain strategy like humans

That's true, although some people think that machines could "evolve" and become sentient if they had that much power.
