+186 You're terrified that, in 15 years or so, all the elementary school classrooms will be filled with Percys, Katniss's, Hermoines, and Edwards, amirite?

*shoots self in head*

I actually like both of those names... Personally, I don't connect them with Twilight.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I agree with eastcoast. Those are nice names and pretty common without Twilight.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I like both those names, but the Twilight connotation means I can never use them now.

Classroom's full of Hermione's aren't that bad for the school. They'd (the school and - I guess - the principal) be proud and popular.

What, no Kvothe? I pity you.

i think now is the time to purge our youth

Purge?

I dont know about you but my kid's name is going to be david

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Percy is actually an old-school name. It's been around for a while. Afterthought: So is Edward hmm

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Who cares? Those aren't outrageous names, why should it matter where they come from?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Katniss is... Hermoine kind of is as well...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Katniss is a little odd, but it's also a flower. And Hermione's name doesn't come from Harry Potter; it's originally Greek, and it's the name of the queen in A Winter's Tale. I have a feeling it's less uncommon outside of the US.

I don't think they will be. The majority of kids these days aren't named for their parents favorite Young Adult novels, so why would they be in a decade or so?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah. If they are, the book probably meant a lot to them and I doubt they would name them one of the ridiculous names from the book. Edward, Bella, and Jacob are fairly common, normal names, as are Harry and Ron.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I've planned on naming my first son Jacob forever and I'm not letting Twilight stop me.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

At least they'll be kids raised by literate parents.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Pshhhh screw that. My firstborn son is going to be named Lestat.
