+170 It's completely ridiculous to walk up to a singer and ask them to sing you a song. You don't walk up to an author and say "Write a book for me." You don't walk up to a comedian and say "Make me laugh." So, it would be pointless to walk up to a singer and make them sing for you, amirite?

Why wouldn't you ask a comedian to make you laugh? I'd say that's a pretty fair request. If they're original, they should have some sort of small catch phrase or something that would cause you to smile and/or chuckle. Nothing over the top, or too absurd. ...I mean as long as you don't request them to do their entire routine in the middle of them having a meal or something... that would be ridiculous.

I mean, if they were hanging out with their family, trying to have some family time, you wouldn't walk up to them and ask them to make you laugh. I mean I wouldn't.

QUESTION: Is the said person famous?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Let's say yes. I wouldn't walk up to, let's say, Katt Williams and be like "Hey, Katt, make me laugh."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, I wouldn't walk up to a police officer and ask them to arrest someone, I wouldn't walk up to a lawyer and ask them to sue someone, but I would walk up to a famous person and ask for their autograph.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I mean asking for an autograph is one thing. But asking them to perform for you is totally different.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why would you not ask to sue someone then they probably did something to deserve it and citizen arrest so you can ask the popo to arrest someone and I would if they would doing illegal stuff

I see your point, bad analogy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How's that a bad analogy it makes perfect sence

by Anonymous 12 years ago

by Anonymous 12 years ago

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, i totally wouldn't. That's what i was trying to say...that would be rude. People who do that have no home-training. no

by Anonymous 12 years ago

would you ask your favorite athlete to play that sport with you?

Asking an author to write and a comedian to make you laugh are entirely different things than asking a singer to sing. Expecting an author to write you something on the spot.... You're either a child or completely delusional. Asking a comedian to make you laugh, he'd have to come up with something on the spot. Comedy doesn't work like that. Not even improv usually starts with nothing to go on. Singing, however, either sing a verse of something you know you're good at or sing a bit of the song requested of you. It doesn't require coming up with something original on the spot or writing an entire damn book. Singing is something you can break into at the drop of a hat. Comedy and writing... not so much.

No, those are completely different examples proving nothing. Writing a book takes months or years, making up a joke takes maybe weeks, but singing a song is not like writing one; it can be done instantaneously. Just like right now you the reader could start humming your favourite song with no problem.
