+37 It is incredibly fucking retarded to get a Harry Potter tattoo. amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

And if anyone is wondering if anyone would do this, yes. Yes they would. I was just talking to a girl who said she wanted to get the Deathly Hallows symbol tattooed because Harry Potter was important in her life.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I would get the deathly hallows symbol. I already have it in henna on my arm. It's not just about Harry Potter, there's an actual story behind it which has a lot of meaning.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The meaning being about death and fighting it. Is that really something that touched you so deeply you'd get it marked on your skin permanently?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why does this have so many No Ways?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I realize this comment os from 11 months ago, but I'm going to reply anyways. Personally, I wouldn't ever get a HP tattoo, but I'm not really a huge fan. For some people though, it's a huge part of their lives and it means a lot meaning, enough to get a tattoo. I don't think a tattoo is stupid if it has meaning.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Also Many people tattoo song lyrics or quoats but Harry potter has some pretty good quoats like, Dont pity the dead pity the living and above all pity those who live without love. or Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light or “We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I have to say this... quotes*

by Anonymous 11 years ago

My friend wants to get a whole dark mark on her forearm... I think that would be stupid, but some people really like Harry Potter (me included) and it's their choice...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There are much stupider things that people get tattooed all the time.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That doesn;t make this any less stewpid.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My friend has the deathly hallows tattoo really small on her wrist and it actually looks cute. But having a whole dark mark? Yeah that's a little dumb.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How exactly is it "retarded"? If you meant stupid, you should have said stupid.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

oh god, not this again *rolls eyes*

by Anonymous 11 years ago

People like me will stop bringing this up as soon as everyone understands that retarded is not a synonyme for stupid and stops trying to use it as an insult.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Retarded: Less advanced, esp. mentally, than is usual for one's age. Stupid also fits that definition nicely.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

More common definition: Retarded: Affected with mental retardation. Using retarded as an insult is no different from using the word gay as an insult.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'll never understand why nobody gets offended if you use the word retarded to mean stupid but everybody gets offended if you use gay to mean stupid.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If it's not being used to describe mental retardation, then it's not an insult to mentally handicapped, which is actually the correct term not retarded,

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I know it isn't the proper term, I would never use it to describe someone affected by mental retardation (although mentally handicapped isn't really the proper term either as it could refer to any number of conditions/effects). Whether or not it's directly describing mental retardation, it still refers to mental retardation. Going back to my previous comparison, if the OP used the word gay instead, it wouldn't technically be describing homosexuality, but it still would be offensive for obvious reasons. The word retarded used like this is probably even more offensive (although hardly anyone ever points that out) because, as you said, it's already offensive when it IS used properly, unlike the word gay.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

retarded, unlike gay, has a common meaning other than the "offensive" one. to slow. mental retardation is a perfet discription of the issue. their brain development is slowed. just because someone uses a word that *might* be intended to insult someone doesnt mean the word should be banned from the english language. coming from a bi person (me), people who get upset by *any* of this shit need to grow up and learn how to take insults (IF they were even intended that way) in stride like a mature person. political correctness is just designed to protect people from having their feelings hurt who don't deserve protecting. sticks and stones bro.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're not going to convince me of anything, I'm not going to convince you of anything. We'd both just be wasting time by arguing about this, so let's just stop it right here.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I saw someone with the lightening bolt on their forehead... That's a little weird, but to each their own...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Harry Potter has been a big part of people's lives. Why not get a tattoo of your favorite book/movie series? I think getting a dark mark tattoo is dumb, because it symbolizes evil..Why would you want that on your body ? That's like getting a swastika.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I agree but for when its a face of the character that is stupid ( example twilight) http://www.google.ca/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&tbm=isch&tbnid=jl8pcXGGyAcfrM:&imgrefurl=http://jcmotorsofficial.blogspot.com/2012/05/bad-tattoo-ideas-twilight.html&docid=dx_IB17-6swKKM&imgurl=http://cdn.buzznet.com/assets/users16/jennaflower/default/tattoos-die-cry-twilight-edward--large-msg-128626328921.jpg&w=410&h=364&ei=tNAeUM-cJ8Se6QHL6IHoDA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=765&vpy=2&dur=621&hovh=212&hovw=238&tx=95&ty=89&sig=116818792444146997006&page=2&tbnh=129&tbnw=136&start=21&ndsp=29&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:21,i:156&biw=1366&bih=645

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Why wouldn't you use a Harry Potter example? That's what we were talking about.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Because I couldn't seem to find any

by Anonymous 11 years ago

AHha found one but its actually not that bad... http://www.google.ca/imgres?start=80&um=1&hl=en&sa=X&tbm=isch&tbnid=s0NHYTxSB-zOnM:&imgrefurl=http://rombenk-tattoo.blogspot.com/2010/07/celebrity-face-tattoo-on-our-body.html&docid=EaspiYS2cFnNzM&imgurl=http://www.instablogsimages.com/images/2010/03/02/4-im_dSFWH_22975.jpg&w=550&h=450&ei=diEfUK-AE6P50gHdwoGwCA&zoom=1&biw=1366&bih=645

The series stopped me from committing suicide that's why I have the Deathly Hallows tattooed on my ankle. It's a reminder of what life is about.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

The Harry Potter books were the first books I read on my own, they helped solidify my love of reading and partially inspired me to become a writer. If I could find something from the books that I thought was nice enough to put on my body for the rest of my life, that wouldn't clash with the other tattoos I've planned on, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'd have a Deathly Hallow mark somewhere where someone wouldn't see it, like on my waist.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It depends what they get and where. Would it be a good idea to get the dark mark on your forearm? No. Would it be smart to get a big tattoo of Dumbledore on your face? Absolutely not. I know it's incredible unoriginal but I would love to get the deathly hallows tattooed on the back of my neck.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

If I got one, which I wouldn't, it would be "I must not tell lies" on my hand..
