You feel cool when you know how to play a song on an instrument, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
E-D-C
E-D-C
E-E-E-E
D-D-D-D
E-D-C
Yay!
by Anonymous13 years ago
what song is that?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Mozart's Unfinished Symphony.
by Anonymous13 years ago
HOT CROSS BUNS?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Fucking Hot Cross Buns. I play that like a boss on the trumpet.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'd be worried if you didn't play it like a boss.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yea, after five years, that'd be quite disconcerting.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can play that like a boss on flute, piano, guitar, trumpet, saxophone, timpani, xylophone, and drums.
I'm commenting too much about this.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I could get in three-hour long conversations about band stuff.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Third line should be C-C-C-C. Just sayin.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I learned to play Enter Sandman on the trumpet. I wish I had more an ear for music so I could pick something up just listening to it and learn tons of songs, but I can't.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I play drums and have a problem with that too.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's like... if you give me a piece of music, I can play it almost instantly, no problem. And I can count beats well. But If you play a note, I couldn't identify it for the life of me. And I can't memorize music. And it saddens me, because I put more time than a lot of people into playing my instrument.
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's how I feel and I'm trying to work on it, but it's hard as shit.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yea, I've tried to memorize. All I've memorized are short, easy songs and my school's fight song. One kid, an eighth grader, just picks it up. He's so amazing at recognizing notes. I wish so badly I could. It would make my musical life so much easier.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Same with my friend. He's ridiculously good.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can play songs by ear a lot better than I read sheet music. It's a 2 way street, I can't just look at a complicated piece of music and play it perfectly until I hear how it's supposed to sound, but once I hear it, it's easy.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Same here. I play clarinet and my instructor has us do this exercise where he plays 5 or 6 notes in row and we're supposed to copy him. Whenever he picks me to do it solo I fail so hard..
by Anonymous13 years ago
CLARINET RULES. just sayin
by Anonymous13 years ago
Same'd. My teacher told me that once I got good I would be able to play a song by ear, and I still damn can't.
The bass drum is what screws me up really, 'cause it's harder to hear mixed in with the guitars and bass and it's hardest to see in a live video.
Fucking bass drum.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I switched to drums so I could play a real version of songs I like and not a terrible imitation of the vocals.
The only "real" song I could play was the Final Countdown. And some weird version of Learn to Fly I found on the internet.
Same thing with piano, but I could play a few more things.
And I can play like three chords on guitar, but my fingers are the stubbiest fingers in the history of fingers, so I can't play most songs.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Mine are stubby, too. I love playing the trumpet. Finding a piece of metal music or something for it seriously puts me in a good mood for a week. I really love playing it. I usually like the arrangements, but some are shit. we got Living on a Prayer this year and band, and it was awful. My friend and I (he also plays the trumpet) were both like "WTF is this shit?!"
by Anonymous13 years ago
The more music I found, the more pissed off I'd get because it sounded so bad. I could never get into it really 'cause it wasn't the real thing.
Well, I always played pixelated free previews from sheet music sites so...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I always look for music online. My current search is Little Piece of Heaven.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I love that song...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Me too. I found it for the guitar, but I don't know if I want to transpose it and everything.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Pssh trumpet's just a whole step up from concert pitch, shouldn't be difficult.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I played violin in elementary school and I was like "What the fuck am I going to do with this?" so switched.
by Anonymous13 years ago
You played violin in elementary?
We had to play plastic shrill Führerflutes.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I did that in music class in third grade, but we could join the orchestra in fourth grade and the band in fifth.
by Anonymous13 years ago
we played recorders in elementary school
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can listen to something and learn how to play it on piano just by ear
by Anonymous13 years ago
I wish I could play the piano. And learn music by ear. 0/2
by Anonymous13 years ago
I feel about 20% cooler
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can play don't stop believin' on piano...its the ultimate crowd pleaser and everyone thinks I'm an absolute genius even though its way easy haha
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can too! When I got the sheet music for it, I was shocked at how easy it really is.
by Anonymous13 years ago
If I could figure out the trick to playing four chord songs, I'd be set.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I feel cool because i can technically play 5 instruments and read sheet music: Clarinet, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, ocarina, and recorder(TOTALLY FUCKING COUNTS)
by Anonymous13 years ago
I can technically play three, even if they're all variations of flutes. Piccolos and alto flutes totally count as different instruments, right?
by Anonymous13 years ago
they do count, different mouth positions and technique so essentially a different instrument
by Anonymous13 years ago
Thank you for being one of very few who actually count them as different. Piccolos are hard as hell to play, and not every flute player can just switch on command. Alto flutes are a bit easier, but they're in a completely different key and everything.
by Anonymous13 years ago
that's so true. only band geeks understand that they're different
by Anonymous13 years ago
Kazoo. \m/
Oh, and I guess that flute thing is cool too.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I had my first drumming lesson today and I learned how to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
And I can play half of Grenade by Bruno Mars on the piano because my sister forced me to learn it so she could sing along.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Guitar, violin, viola, piano, recorder, mandolin. And the fun of learning songs goes away the longer you play.
