+354 It's heartbreaking when an old person acts like a child or continuously forgets everything because of a disease and everyone gets sick of him or her, amirite?

It's like with my grandpa. Everyone in my family gets annoyed by him and wants nothing to do with him. I'm the only one that is nice to him and he can't even remember me.

it's heartbreaking when people never make it to old age.

My great aunt has Alzheimer's. The only person she recognizes is my grandpa, with everyone else she has to be reminded who we are and where she is every ten minutes. I hate visiting her because it's extremely frustrating to see her in such a state and not being able do to anything about it but I also feel the need to visit her and talk to her so she doesn't feel abandoned(not that she can remember that).

sundowners syndrome is pretty ridiculous (if you know what it is). its when you're happy during the day and then BOOM! its night and they're pissed off for no reason.

My gran has a genetic disorder; I don't know what it's called, but one of the symptoms is that she forgets things and can't talk very easily/coherently. Most of the family dread visiting her, but I actually like going to her nursing home, and I feel bad when everyone else complains about her.
