+259 It seems that some of the more famous authors out there have abbreviations in their names (J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling and even R.L. Stine if you used to be a Goosebumps fan) amirite?

Ms.Rowling did it so that little boys would read the books. because little boys who use to think girls had cooties are bias enough to not want to read a book made by a female.

she doesn't even have a middle name.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow and hear I thought her middle name was Katherine or something.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I read somewhere she doesn't actually have one.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

She doesn't have one. Katherine was her grandmother's name I think.

S.E. Hinton was 16 when she wrote the outsiders. She wanted to remain anonymous so that her book would get published.

that was a really stupid book

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I liked it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

well I did have to read it for school for two years and as you know any book you have to read for school sucks

I don't understand this post, are you basically saying "Some authors go by their initials, amirite?"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

F. Scott Fitzgerald. C.S. Lewis. But there are also other, great authors who used their full name. ;) Agatha Christie Jane Austen Oscar Wilde

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Fyodor Dostoevsky.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

T.S. Eliot?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I've seen more authors who use their full names rather than abbreviations, truth be told. Either they want to be somewhat anonymous, or they want to use whatever sounds more appealing to the target audience.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

fun fact: ray bradbury and RL stine are buddies.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So were C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They both have good books.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So did C.S. Lewis, W.H. Auden, E.B. White.....etc. I'm going to start using my first two initials and last name when I write and see if it improves anything. I think these guys were on to something.
