Actually, many of the drugs at that time had hallucinagens in them, so he was 'high' in a sense but not at the time of actually writing Alice. His writing is very lucid, so maybe the ideas were produced during one of the medicated periods, but the actual writing was not. As to the other comment about his pedophilia, ya, pretty much. He did carry around pictures, allegedly, of naked young girls... But aparently that also wasn't totally uncommon, which is a whole nother issue in itself...
