+349 It's weird that a hot tub seems hot to us, even though it's pretty much the same temperature as our bodies, amirite?

Yes they are usually only 2-6 degrees higher but what makes us feel hot is the fact that we are not losing body heat, but we still create it hence the rise in temperature. You can literally die from cooking in a hot tub.

Yes, which is why some pools only allow people 18+ to use the hot tub. Also, another reason we feel hot in a hot tub is because the nerve receptors in our skin can feel the heat on the outside and tell us it is hot. It's pretty interesting how our bodies work.

Water's heat capacity is very high so at room temperature it will feel cold because it is actually sucking the heat out of your body. Fun fact: with enough water and enough time submerged in the water you can get hypothermia even if the water is at room temperature. Also that is why it takes forever to boil.
