+106 There's probably some kid out there who could have been the best baseball or football player in history, but didn't have enough money to join a team when he was younger so we'll never know, amirite?

Or they got aborted because it wasn't a convenient time for them to be born yet.

You know, chances are if you can't support the baby or wouldn't love it (those are the only two reasons and their derivatives I consider real reasons to abort) then he's probably not going to amount to much anyway. The chances are there, but they're slim. Approximately one Planck length think. If we kept all aborted babies alive, the population crisis would have struck much sooner, before we were in the least bit ready. Do you know a major reason why less developed countries are still less developed? high birth rate. Parents can't cope, they can't improve themselves and are stuck in a vicious cycle. Do you know crime rate plummeted ~20 years after abortion was made easily accessible? that's because the unwanted delinquents-to-be did not grow up to be forced into a life of crime. Not all will be, but most will. It's all in the numbers.

There's also probably some genius who's never going to cure cancer because he couldn't do well in humanities, thus was blocked from all good schools on account of lack of roundness in his aptitude. It's bullshit that someone mediocre in everything will get much further than someone who excels in something but is shit in all unrelated stuff.
