It's 2011, we have mechanical pencils now.

It's 2011, we should have a better way to start our posts now, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What's wrong with electrical ones?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They still do that thing where it makes one side really sharp but the other side is still dead dull, and you're left wondering if you should suck it up and deal with it, grow some balls and redo the whole damn thing, or just kill yourself and never have to deal with it again.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ah...I see. Maybe the older models still do that? I have this cool battery-powered one, and the pencil usually comes out flawless.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My sharpener is a piece, and I hate it. I kind of just want to drop it from my roof and see how high the pieces bounce.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then just use mechanical ones. I rarely use the regular ones.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Mine's mechanical, but I guess it's pretty old. You know, I'll update my iPhone yearly for several hundred dollars without even thinking, but I never even though to do the same to my pencil sharpener...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha, I meant mechanical pencils, but I still get you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh. I feel stupid now.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

My fault. I was unclear. Pencils and sharpeners: interesting topic to have a conversation on, no? lol.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Meh, I should be able to put "mechanical" and "pencil" together at this point in my life. And honestly, I can talk about the stupidest things for way too long. I once had a half hour long argument with my girlfriend about the usefulness of butterfree.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

We've all done it. BTW....what's butterfree? Sorry if it's something completely obvious that I should know about.

Pokemon

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ohhh, okay. Thanks.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's a Pokemon. One of the originals. I don't blame you for not knowing it. Pokemon was my life back in the day, and I still remember a lot about gen. 1. And not to reinforce any stereotypes, but yes, she is Asian. Take from that what you will.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha, at least you can have conversations like that with her. A lot of girls wouldn't even care enough. I watched Pokemon all the time when I was younger, and I was so excited to see the movie in the theater and everything, and I wore Pokemon clothes, etc. I just never got into playing the cards, and eventually I forgot everything I knew about it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hey, she started it. But yeah, I've a thing for nerd girls. And I've got a fantastic memory for things that really don't matter at all. I never knew the rules for the card game. As kids, we just made them up as we went.

In our science class our teacher is all eco-friendly so we have to use a little box shredder-like thing to sharpen pencils. I like it. It makes me feel like hunter living in a log cabin.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have a little mechanical pencil sharpener that I've kept for years. It sharpens pencils perfectly every time in about 10 rotations. Cost $.50.
