+396 Grammar Nazis: you're just trying to be helpful, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Grammar nazis are not trying to be helpful; they're typically just pedantic jerks. Most people can be understood without their annoying corrections.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Exactly. It does absolutely nothing for anybody to correct someone's spelling. It's just douchebags pretty much just proving that they have decent grammar, as most people do outside of the internet where it doesn't matter at all. Seriously, go get a fucking cookie from your English teacher; nobody on the internet cares. /rant

Your last sentence was a run-on. Either add a semi colon or separate that sentence into two.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

His last sentence has a semicolon. You're an idiot.

Why did you vote yeah you are then?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

really? if youre not a grammar nazi then why did you just vote?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The thing about Grammar Nazis is that they assume the person they're correcting doesn't know they made the error. Mistakes happen.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Most Grammar Nazis I've seen generally don't correct the occasional typos (though some ruin it for us)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, it's not necessarily to make the receiving end look bad. Some people, like myself, are of the mindset that something undone can linger in the mind, or in my case, just bug me for the entire day. When I see something, or multiple things wrong in the same phrase, I get the urge to not live on this planet anymore. If someone like myself is able to use grammar correctly, then I feel that anyone can. I'm just trying to be helpful, honestly. So, YYA.

I read that in a ghetto accent and it seemed to make more sense.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's okay if they correct something that was used wrong, but when something is spelled wrong just because it was a typo it's just annoying and unnecessary.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If they're trying to be helpful, why are some of them so rude?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Some of them are so rude because some people are just bitches, I guess.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"Just trying to be helpful." That's what the actual Nazis thought...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not in english class. I'm not being graded on how gramatically correct my sentences are on the internet. I do not care if I make a typo.

If they mess up your or there or something, I don't say anything. I assume that if someone were to ask them which homophone to use they would be able to answer correctly. But if they use a word wrong, I usually say something. For example: a kid of facebook said "I feel so decapitated after this weekend". He meant it as he felt like his body was falling apart. I hate Grammar Nazis that correct things like capitalization, typos, or use them against you and call you varying forms of the word stupid.
