+287 It's weird how we don't use the contraction "it's" as a response rather than "it is" Example: Person1:"Is that lamp black?" Person2:"It's." But then again it just sounds weird, amirite?

It would actually be "do you not". Contractions sometimes screw aound with the order of words.

I think it' grammars way of making us a little less lazy. If all you're going to say it 'it is', then just say the words. If you're gonna say it in a sentence, just slurr it all together.
