+367 Yes, I'm Caucasian and Christian. No, that doesn't give you the right to preach to me about all the bad things "my people" have done, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Especially if you a white male

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Kind of sad, really. "You invented slavery." "You killed the Native Americans." "You caused the Crusades." No, in fact, they did NOT. Those were their ancestors that did that. If someone is really alive from one of those time periods and can be blamed for the events that took place...I want to know how the hell they managed to live so long.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Spanish killed more natives than we did. Or atleast more brutally and also slavery has been around long before the americans did it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Egyptians=slave owners

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Does white caucasian people= americans for you?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well I guessed slave owners in america (who were white christians) would be the only ones most recently being accused of slavery and such

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You make it sound like slavery didnt really exist when you call it an 'accusation'. You meant surely that americans were the most recent slave owners im sure. Sorry pedantic.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah thats the point I was getting trying to get to

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Plus the whole triangular trade didn't involve europe gaining any slaves.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, I know. I was just giving stupid arguments I've heard throughout the years.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This is a perfect example of a post that makes me wonder "Why the fuck would you disagree with this?"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Because they're being sarcastic.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Using sarcasm when voting seems like it would be difficult to do.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nah, not really. I do it when posts are way too obviously right or wrong.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I can do what I want, cracker.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Lol, who does that?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I see you're black. DON'T ACT LIKE YOU UNDERSTAND THE WHITE MAN STRUGGLE!!!! I know it's hard to tell on the internet, so just so everyone knows, I'm kidding.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, it does give me the right to preach to you about what your people have done. You subscribe to a sick and twisted philosophy that has caused nothing but suffering. Muggles deserve to live just as much as you do and mudbloods are not inferior because they don't live up to your pure standards. We need a world where there is tolerance and understand, not rampant, indiscriminate use of the Killing Curse on people who disagree with you.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

does harry potter need to be EVERYWHERE?!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not LamWin's fault OPs name is malfoy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I mean, then again, I don't go on all your posts and talk about stick cavemen... But yeah, I guess I had that coming.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I like Harry Potter (look at my username for starters), but I'm pretty sure that it didn't apply to this post... At all, really

by Anonymous 12 years ago

shitstorm inbound hot

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe "your people" are innocent, but you certainly seem to come off as a douche.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why thank you, good sir.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't mean to namecall, I think I understand your main premise that you should not be blamed for the sins of your forefathers. Just the confrontational, smug tone you write in grates on my nerves. I just feel you could have expressed the same thing in a much less arrogant and condescending manner. I believe in equality, always have. I don't think Christians or white people or black people or whatever are better than anyone else. I like to learn about people on an individual basis. My apologies.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thanks for apologizing, I guess. Even though you insulted me a lot in there. And I didn't mean to come off sounding smug or like a douche, if that helps. Sorry if I sounded that way.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I guess we all have our touchstones. I happen to be very sensitive about inequality. It does not mean I think every white Christian is bad or evil. There are all kind of hatreds. So I guess I don't want to spread more. I realize you're perfectly within your rights to state your opinion. It's possible I read some things into your original post that weren't what you meant or were intending. It was more of a knee-jerk thing. I like the idea of not being ashamed of your heritage and not prejudging based on lineage or externals like phenotype. :D Thanks for that

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're a prick

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Way to miss the point. oh,well. whatever floats your boat.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The first point you made was how they were smug and arrogant. That's what pissed me off because that's bullshit

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They already apologized. No need to start up another argument about who's a douche and who isn't.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're right. It was rude. I apologized and the OP was nice enough to accept it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Black person's opinion here: f I was white, I'd get tired of hearing about all the shit things my ancestors did as well. But when negative stuff comes up, everyone claims "That was in the past, stop whining about it and let it go." But when it's something positive, some type of innovation or movement or such, descendents have absolutely no problem praising and bragging about accomplishments they has no part in.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

HOLY COW If * had*

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Way to be, man. Good to see you've got nothing better to do than correct people's grammar. IS THAT ALL YOU DO? HUH? GOT NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TROLL ON PEOPLE'S GRAMMAR? You should be ashamed.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

This was in reply to myself. I was correcting MYSELF.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have a feeling this post is telling a one sided story...Its too obvious. I feel like whoever this is directed to may probably have a good defence to this. Like maybe the whole 'your people' came about in a debate...and perhaps the only thing wrong was that they were too lazy to say "caucasian christians" instead of your people. Semantics.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Totally. and its always black ppl that say that. ugh it really gets my goat.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

'Cause we totally don't know what we're talking about, cause we so don't pay enough attention in school to know that Africans were, like, the first to enslave Africans, cause we ALL feel that ALL white people are resposible for EVERYTHING dumb that happened in the world, and ugh... it just really gets my goat I'm not even sure where I was going with that. I just wanted to rant aimlessly.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Now, were you the same person as the anon above, or are there two people out there in the world amazing enough to casually use the phrase "really gets my goat"?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just used it cause the person above did :P

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, it was still pretty cool. I mean, as cool as saying "gets my goat" can be.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's also annoying that judgment is sometimes passed on "Caucasian and Christian" people for things "their ancestors" did, when in reality, the accusers have no idea if the accused ancestors were a part of whatever crime is being attributed. There would need to be extensive genealogical research to know.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why does everybody think that to bring up important HISTORY is somehow bitching? it is very important to establish what went worng and it so stupid that some people think that its an attack on their 'ancestors' like what?! no its not. Also its still relevant today. The law nor constitutionalsm doesnt give a fuck that it happened along time ago. If it was illegal then it is illegal now. If it was an 'unconscionable bargain' then it still fucking is. SO ascertaining flault isnt personal but it needs to be done so that we can right those wrongs. Ill give you an example: if you buy a watch that was stolen nobody gives a fuck that you bought it fair and square. The fact remains it isnt yours to own. Why when you put it in this context everyone understands but apply it to native relations everyone gets up in arms. Erm soryy that want all aimed at you...just ranting.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That had no relation to my comment at all. I don't mean tomsay people didn't do stupid, cruel, and/or illegal things in the past. And it is very important for people to understand history. But at this point wrongs won't be reversed. Native Americans won't get their land back. Lives lost on the Trail of Tears (btw I have cherokee ancestry) will never be regained. But that doesn't mean people who look like they might be related to someone from decades to centuries ago shouldn't be judged for that person's actions. They aren't the same people. Most will agree that there is even large differences between one generation not to mention many. P.S. If I buy a watch that was stolen over a certain periodmof time ago, then chances are the law will never get around to reversing the fact that it was obtained by the provider illegally, at least not in a way that traces back to me. The police don't have enough time to hunt everything down from years passed. But I understand the concept, I just needed to point out the counterargument considering that's basically what happened with the Natives and their land.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*to say *period of That should say either "but that means they shouldn't be judged" or "but the doesn't mean they should be judged". Somehow I came up with a double negative (whoops)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh and saying that someone's "ancestors" did something is not bringing up "important history," it's judgmental slander. The post refers to prejudice on Caucasian/Christians, not history class.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So true. It's like blaming the kid for crimes their parents committed.
