+285 It doesn't make sense for Brian Griffin to be an Atheist because in earlier episodes God's existance has been proven in their world, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hes an athiest because he doesnt believe in religion or what it stands for. He obviously knows both god and jesus exist, being as jesus ate dinner with them and god was in the bar with him

by Anonymous 12 years ago

that doesn't make sense. An atheist, by definition, doesn't believe in the existence of God. Brian says so himself

by Anonymous 12 years ago

(th3don):and he also acknowledged that he believed in God before when Peter pretended to be a divine healer, he slapped Peter while talling him God is pissed.he did believe in the christian religion, But later on in the series Seth McFarlane decided he wants Brian to be a very stereotypical liberal pseudo intellectual so he changed him even though it doesn't make sense.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Half the show doesnt make sense, Yet we still watch it..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't, I stopped watching around the time the characters started to become the biggest douchebags on the face of the planet.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They're really not douchebags. The point of the show is essentially making fun of society and the characters have to 'act' a certain way to get the point across.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought you watched it before though.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That doesn't make sense to you, but you are fine with the fact that he can talk...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

In the episode where Meg finds the Lord, Brian says "I don't believe in God". So no, he doesn't obviously know that God and Jesus exist.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, that's the part that doesn't make sense...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Which doesn't make sense, because he's acknowledged the existence of God repeatedly throughout the show. Such as when Peter pretended to be a healer. Brian was among the first to tell him that it was God getting mad at him. And they've had Jesus over for dinner.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Also Peter's head has exploded a few times but he's still alive. What an odd thing to make a post about.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're trying to rationalize Family Guy. You know it's a cartoon, right? Anyway, he's an atheist because he lives in a society where being atheist and having liberal values are not the norm. But then when more atheists and liberals take the stage in American politics he turns into a Conservative Christian. No matter what, Brian cannot be mainstream.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know it is, I was just thinking about that and decided to post it. so he's a political hipster? that's an interesting way to put it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah. You probably missed that episode since you stopped watching Family Guy, but now they try to make episodes that explain details like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

that's the biggest reason I stopped watching the show, the deeper they go into character development the more everybody just seems like an asshole. I can't think of a single likable character on that show.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"You're trying to rationalize it? You're insane. Now let me try."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Try? I succeeded.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't see how being a conservative is the norm. Most politicians (that aren't made fun of every minute) and people I know are liberal. And if he's willing to change his religion once it becomes not normal, he's really an atheist.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That episode aired in 2008 when we had the election in the senate that turned the Democratic majority into a Republican majority because, for a very brief amount of time, there were more people voting conservative. And even now conservatives seem to be getting all the attention. I cannot name very many Democratic politicians at this moment, but I can think of several Conservative politicians simply because they get more attention.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think that's a really recent thing. The only conservative politicians people talked about until a while ago were like, Michelle Baachman and Sarah Pailin and other people they mentioned just to make fun of them. Whatever time we've had in the spotlight (positively, Pailin and Baachman don't count) has been either very brief or very recent in the past years.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know that part is fairly recent, but it started with the senate elections pushing out the democrats.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Brian is also a talking dog...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why are there atheists in the real world, when God's existence is proven every day?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

and how is this proven?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're here, aren't you? Did your heart beat? Your lungs fill with air? That's because of God

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...are you trolling? i cant tell.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No I am not. This website is about sharing your opinions, and I chose to believe that God exists.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

wrong post to do it on though...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You choose to believe it, yes. So do I. That doesn't mean there's proof. If there was proof, it wouldn't be called faith.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Being here does not prove the existence of any god.... It proves that having sex can make babies.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Are you really that fucking stupid? Tell me you're trolling.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Troll trying to make religious people seem stupid...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't think you guys understand. I am not a troll. I am a Christian. I'm not trying to convert you, I'm just voicing my opinion. You people get mad at Christians for judging people (which we rarely actually do), and here you all are judging me before you even know me.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You are stating it like if it's a fact so really how do you consider your statement an opinion. If you were to say that you think or believe he is real then that would be an opinion, which would justify the reason why you mentioned this site's purpose.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, Christians judge people all the time. Just because we're not supposed to do somethign and know we're not supposed to do it doesn't mean we don't do it. We're sinners that way. I think your name mainly points to trolling. Usually people don't have names like that unless they're trying to be a stereotype.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Don't say Christians rarely judge others, they do it all the time. But so does everyone else, so there's no point in even pointing that out. Obviously, there are levelheaded people on either side of the argument (and I assume/hope you are one of them), but people of every belief/race/ideal judge others, unfortunately. It isn't a trait identified spicifically with one type of people. But please don't try to pass of the fact that we exist as proof of God. That's not proof in any sense of the word. It's like saying "There are records of Jesus's existence, so obviously God exists". Well, no, because that only proves that he exists, not that he was the messiah. Only your argument is even less justified. Now, before people start replying with "Zomg edging atheist GTFO!!!11!!!", I don't consider myself an atheist. I believe that God exists for those who believe in him, but after years of Catholic school and time to really think about what I believe, I've realized that I don't believe in God myself. I don't care what you believe, you have the right to do whatever you want. I even still go to church etc because religion interests me. But don't make up evidence, please.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Rant over. Sorry everyone, that was a lot longer than I thought it would be . . . Also, "edging atheist" was supposed to say "effing atheist". I'm on the phone app and therefore cannot edit my comment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not an opinion if it can be proven. And yes, there are a lot of Christians who judge people. Everyone gets mad at us because those Christians are the loudest.

It doesn't make sense that Brian can talk, or that Stewie is a genius, but nobody cares about that. Oh yeah, maybe because it is a CARTOON.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It also doesn't make sense that Stewie is a faggot, even though he isn't anywhere near puberty.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Are you saying that you aren't aware of your sexuality until you hit puberty? And seriously, you're not cool because you can offend homosexuals.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Faggots have bigger problems than a word, such as hate crimes and discrimination. No baby would know what being gay is.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

As stated before, it's a cartoon. But just because homosexuals have "bigger problems" doesn't mean you should call them faggots. It may just be a word, but it's words like faggot and ignorant morons like yourself who drive them to kill themselves.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, it's videotapes leaking and bullying that leads people to killing themselves. No black people killed themselves because of the word "nigger."

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Calling someone a faggot classifies as bullying and harassment, you know that, right? So thanks for proving yourself wrong.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So, is Stewie going to sue me for harassment?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You clearly don't understand. I never said that. I just just stating that closed-minded individuals like yourself are one of the main reasons that homosexuality is such a contraversy in today's society.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How am I close-minded?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

 You can't seem to grasp the concept that homosexuals ARE in fact people, and DO take offense from words just as much as they do from harassment.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, I do grasp the fact that faggots are people and are capable of doing anything that breeders can do, just like niggers.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"Faggots", "breeders", "niggers". Clearly, you don't.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

How is that any indication of my ability to grasp that fact?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Actually stewie is bisexual he got married and has been interested in little girls in a few episodes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He also stated in that episode how wonderful it would be if he turned out to be a homosexual.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Youre over analyzing a cartoon... They are meant for stupid humor that might or might not make sense.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but I'm overanalyzing a cartoon because it's fun.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Your definition of fun is strange...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, fun is a strange concept.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I, a lesbian, hereby grant you permission to use the word faggot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Thing is, faggot isn't really applied to you, so I'm pretty sure you can't give others permission to use it. Faggot is used as a slur for gay men, not lesbians. For example, a Hispanic person can't give someone permission to use the n-word. It's like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Idk... I get called a fag all the time. It might be a southern thing, but it seems to me like everyone who isn't straight is called a fag.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It sucks you get called that, and it seems people are getting theirs slurs wrong. When you think "faggot", you think a flaming dude, never a girl. Even if you individually have been called that, since it's not immediately directed towards your group of people, it's still not really okay, in my opinion.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Can I say "dyke?"

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sure.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yay! I get full gay word privileges!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*side note* People are aware of their sexuality long before puberty. Remember those harmless little crushes in preschool? Though I will agree that being aware at infancy is really pushing it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The later series give me the impression that Brian is based entirely on Seth Macfarlane and his views.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why is everyone saying, "Oh, it's just a cartoon"? What, we're not allowed to expect logic and intelligence in our entertainment? I mean, I don't question that there's a talking dog because it's been established that he can talk in their universe from day one. That doesn't mean they can ignore all continuity because it's unrealistic in some aspects and realistic in others. I mean, if you saw an episode of Scooby Doo where the bad guy turned out to be Shaggy when he was with them the whole time, would you just say, "Why does it have to make sense? There's a talking dog in the show

by Anonymous 12 years ago

"Oh, it's just a cartoon. It's not like real life." Well, this, is just a website overanalyzing the cartoon. It's not like we're the FCC.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hey everybody
