This new abortion law proposed in Mississippi is absurd, amirite?
by Anonymous12 years ago
WHY WOULD THEY EVEN..??
by Anonymous12 years ago
What's the summarised version?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Fertilised eggs receive the same rights as people
All abortion is illegal and will be treated the same as murder (including ones from rape and incest)
Some forms of contraception will be illegal
Doctors may refuse to save the life of a woman if she is dying due to complications in her pregnancy if it means aborting a foetus
IVF treatment would be a lot harder because they would have to fertilise and implant one egg at a time instead of many as they do now and many other changes to the way the procedure is preformed reducing it's effectiveness
If a woman has a miscarriage she may be investigated and if there was a way she could have prevented it or her actions contributed to or caused the miscarriage, she can be tried and convicted of murder

Are you fucking kidding me? That's ridiculous!
by Anonymous12 years ago
This makes me scared for what all the other states will do now
i hope that no other states pass something this absurd
by Anonymous12 years ago
that is..... fucking stupid
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm pro-life but that's idiotic. Hopefully this proposal doesn't pass.
by Anonymous12 years ago
...I am just speechless...
by Anonymous12 years ago
Ok that's a bit over the top. If the woman is in danger and could potentially die, she should be able to abort the fetus if she so chooses because her life is at stake. If the woman dies because of this and she is still pregnant, both the woman and the baby will die. If the woman's life can be saved then that's what should be done. Miscarriage is not murder. It is an accident. Most women do not know that they will get a miscarriage so how will they be able to preventit? These are some extreme rules.

I'm mostly pro-life and that sounds absolutely stupid, especially 4 and 6.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I'm starting to get to the point where I'd sell a limb to get out of this country.
by Anonymous12 years ago
It's seriously one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard, and I'm sorry, but I will automatically lose any respect for anyone who thinks it's a good idea.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That's taking it way too far. I'm against abortions, but that law is absurd. O.o
by Anonymous12 years ago
It's horrific. Pregnancy is difficult enough as it is without having to worry about tripping over a slipper and being charged with murder. And what if I'm genetically disposed to miscarriages? How would I know unless I try, but how could I dare try when it could destroy my life if I am? It's like those women in third-world countries who are set on fire if they don't give birth to a boy. How the hell were they supposed to know? None of us can control our insides; it's like calling a heart attack suicide because it was a part of the person's body that caused their death. It just doesn't work like that. Sometimes we break and it's no one's fault, and miscarriage is bad enough as it is without pointing a finger at the grieving mother.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That's silly, we should abort that law
by Anonymous12 years ago
Who the hell decided this was a good law!?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Damn, I'm pro-life and even I think that's taking it too far.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Stupidest thing iv'e ever heard..
by Anonymous12 years ago
So backwards! Miscarriage is heartbreaking enough without being investigated for murder.
by Anonymous12 years ago
All of you here are retarded; did you seriously expect any better from Mississippi? Move on with your lives please.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Law making has just lost all its credibility. Who thought this was a good idea? How did this even get passed!?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Not passed yet, they vote on the 8th. But they could already and have tried women who miscarried with murder :/
by Anonymous12 years ago
Early April Fools joke?
by Anonymous12 years ago
Somebody should abort the Mississippians who thought this would be a good law.
by Anonymous12 years ago
That is absolutely RIDONKULOUS!
by Anonymous12 years ago
This is absurd! Including rape victims? It's terrible that they were raped but to have to care for a child? Making abortions illegal just extends the risk of illegal abortions which most of the time kill the mothers as well.
by Anonymous12 years ago
It's atrocious, but it can't pass, right? Wade vs. Roe was a Supreme Court case and determined abortion legality, so can Mississippi go against it?
by Anonymous12 years ago
I guess I'm pro-life, but that's....painfully pro-life.
by Anonymous12 years ago
The law hasn't been passed yet, it's being voted on. People can have their opinions. And some people are on the fence about it. But some of this is dramatized, and judging Mississippians with their own opinions is also wrong.
