+216 It's stupid that people reward their diets by eating sweets. That's like rewarding two months sober by drinking. amirite?

Yes, it's not good if you use 'bad things' to reward yourself during the diet. Dieting should be about lifestyle changes too, and as long as you see something 'bad' as a reward, so something that's really nice, you will probably never be able to get to the change.

Having sweets every once in a while is fine though. You don't have to never eat sweets again in order to stay thin. It's about moderation, not total depletion.

It is, I agree. But seeing it as the ultimate reward is what makes it bad :)

Well, yes. The ultimate reward for dieting should be a healthier lifestyle and for your body to be healthier and in better shape. But having sweets as a small reward every now and then is not a bad thing.

My friend had a beer to celebrate 3 months sober... I wasn't sure what to say.

Same principle indeed... It's great if an ex-alcoholic can end up drinking just one or two drinks whenever he/she drinks, but don't use it as a reward either..
