-30 All the important people in history had no religion, thats because they didn't need to explain everything around them, instead they observed and learned and spread they're knowledge, amirite?

Actually, all the important people in history were pretty much Christian, because back in the day, everyone was Christian.

Maybe in the Western world, but you can't ignore an entire hemisphere of countries that were Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish and other religions.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's true, but I assume OP is referring to American/European icons, because, this is a pretty Western site. I'm also thinking that he/she is talking about men who made leaps and bounds in science. ('knowledge') In which case, most of them were indeed Christians. But I know what you're saying. Ghandi and all that. :P

Well the OP said "in history," and history happens everywhere. And if you think that only Christians have made leaps and bounds in science, then you may be misinformed. Check these out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age#Sciences http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_science_and_technology_in_China http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Indian_science_and_technology Peace.

-fp- I'm sorry, I'm all ill-informed. Like I said, I know what you mean. Just made an assumption. o-o

Umm you do realize that although you targeted christianity right off the bat, the OP actually said "had no RELIGION" Never once did they mention christianity, and the majority of those sources referenced actually do refer to religious figures (and wikipedia isn't really a good place to cite things from anyways)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

UUUUUMMM, you do realize I was responding to ArtisticBroccoli, not the OP, who specifically said "Actually, all the important people in history were pretty much Christian . . ." And yes, I know the sources I listed refer to religious figures because, ummmm, that was my point? Pay attention!

The roman leaders, charles the great, richard the lion-hearted, sir isaac newton, queen elizabeth, leonardo da vinci, all of america's founding fathers, columbus, lincoln, roosevelt, kennedy, and just about every other US president and most European leaders...Christian.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Einstein was Christian, so were 90% of the famous scientists. All the presidents, need I go farther?? This post is complete BS.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

uh. Einstein was actually Jewish. But other than that you're mostly correct.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well, they were religious, but they didn't let religion blind them to the world like many religious people do today. They saw themselves as "seeking the mind of God," to paraphrase Einstein.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not going to comment about religion, but I think you mean "their" instead of "they're"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you all got trolled goodbye!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There have been important people from both sides of the debate all over the world.
