It really bothers me how people have so much disrespect for their leader (not directed towards OP). Sure, he may do some things that we don't like, but he'll never be able to please everyone, and he's doing the best he can. We elected him, so for now, let's stop complaining about things over which we have little to no control.

Yes but he is trying to implement an economic idea, socialism, into America. And socialism has never worked look all throughtout history. We didnt elect him to be a socialist we elected him as a capitalist that would "lower taxes". We should have respect but it is alright for them to be upset.

If people like you actually paid attention to the countless of other bills and such Obama has signed on in favour of Republicans and not just the big ticket healthcare issue, maybe our country wouldn't be so misinformed about our politics. Obama is no more a socialist than McCain is a fascist. He's a centrist. You want an actual socialist? Try Kucinich or Barney Frank. Btw, Obama did Lower taxes. For 95% of us. Let's just ignore that, right?

We haven't had a pure capitalist economy since the Great Depression (maybe earlier) when Social Security and other unemployment benefits and similar programs were implemented. Many people thought that FDR's plans were were outrageously socialist at the time, but now they're commonplace. The same thing happened when LBJ started Medicare and Medicaid in the 60s. I'm not an expert on this, but it seems to me that we already have capitalism mixed with some socialism. Obama is not the first President to have socialist-like plans, and If he promised to "lower taxes" and did not follow through, people do have a right to be upset, but did he promise to "lower taxes for the richest one percent?" I don't think so.

It's also funny to see so many of the older generation complaining of socialism yet have no clue that many of them are already on "socialist" programs. Kinda like the idiot who told a politician to "get your government hands off my Medicare!" a while back.

Very true. People are uninformed. They don't understand things like how their children are able to get free school lunches due to socialist-like plans. Why are some less fortunate people able to get free flu shots or free dental care? Socialist-like plans. Socialist programs are not pure evil. I'm not saying that we should make everything government run, but you get my point.
